FIFA World Cup Will Boost Brazil’s Economy By USD 70 Billion

FIFA World Cup, in 2014, will add USD 70 billion to Brazil's economy. This estimate given by the Brazil's Ministry of Sports is founded on the country's investments in private and public infrastructure, rising activity in the services sector and greater tax collection. FIFA World Cup is to generate more than USD30 billion in direct taxes, USD 10 billion in additional indirect taxes and will drive up the consumption of Brazilian goods and services by USD3 billion for the span until and during the games.
With about 600,000 tourists expected to visit Brazil during the FIFA World Cup, the travel and tourism industry will also get boost, generating an income of USD 3.5 billion. Almost 332,000 permanent and 381,000 temporary jobs will also be created in the country on account of the FIFA World Cup with the emergence of new hotels, airport and arena reforms at 18 football stadiums from North to South Brazil.
