A global journey…

World Cup 2010 Enters Final Phase

Soccer… While the sport is gaining in popularity in the US, most Americans aren't very in to soccer. And, well, I'm an American. Soccer is something I pay attention to mostly during the World Cup.

I was on vacation at the beach, but I did watch the USA v. Ghana game. Kevin-Prince Boateng and Asamoah Gyan each scored goals for Ghana to beat the US 2-1. Gyan knocked in his goal from 92 feet out. The USA has never made it to the round of 16 before. Maybe in 2014 we'll beat Ghana (or whoever we draw for that game) and move up a round.

I'm still following World Cup coverage. I have some German friends that seem to be hoping their team beats Argentina this weekend (Schland… Schland… Schland…).
They are emotionally more involved because at the last World Cup in 2006 they were very close to win the trophy. They lost at the Semifinals against Italy with 0:2. If you ask me, I think that the Germans will win this time. Some soccer-fans are thinking of good World Cup 2010 Odds and place their bet to show how much they trust in Germany.

Me? Almost as soon as the USA-Ghana game was over I went back to worrying about the next NASCAR race…
