Everton are a fine side with a great manager. Why is it then that everything seems to be going wrong?
They were dumped out of the UEFA Cup tonight as they lost 4-3 on aggregate to Standard Liege.
It has been a really tough few days for David Moyes and his team, losing 2-0 to local rivals Liverpool at the weekend and being dumped out of the Carling Cup by Blackburn last week, before this sudden end to their European adventure.
Despite the reports of player dissatisfaction over their manager's delay in signing a new contract, Everton didn't play badly tonight and can count themselves a little unfortunate to be going out.
The whole Everton set-up looked totally shell-shocked at the end of the game and they face a difficult few days in the build up to their next game. Luckily for them, it's against Newcastle who would welcome Everton's problems at this time.
It is crucial for the Toffees that Moyes puts pen to paper as soon as possible or hands over the reigns to someone else. Whilst the uncertainty exists it is difficult to see how things can get better.
