Arsenal fans should be worried by France's 1-0 defeat to Scotland (video here Tartan Army fans). If the madman that is Raymond Domenech gets fired by a disgruntled French FA, then we all know who's next in line…
That's right, it's Arsene Wenger. The Frenchman loves Arsenal, he more or less is Arsenal right now, and I can't see him leaving Ashburton Grove for any other club job. But the chance to manage his country might be another matter.
If he were to go, it could be a disaster for the Gooners. Thierry Henry would be less inclined to stay without his father figure. Wenger is so good, and so perfect for Arsenal, that anyone else has to be considered a step down. Can you even imagine someone else in the dugout right now?
So all you Gooners out there, remember to cheer every goal France scores against the Faroe Islands on Wednesday night. Of course, that's unless you want Bruce Rioch back.
update: As very polite but oddly named reader "Youreanidiot" points out, Wenger has indeed expressed antipathy towards international management, but that doesn't mean the French FA won't try their luck.

The fact that he said on Arsenal.com last Thursday that he would never take an international manager’s position, as he would miss the “everyday invovlement” of club football, I suppose is irrelevant to a sh*te site like this?

To the dlckhead above, you are certainly not a gooner. I don’t know this blogger or site owner but i disagree with him that we have to worry about arsene going off for international positions. Your comment made you looked like a scum and I don’t think this blog warranted a comment like this.

That’s just lazy, fella. Well lazy, and not very interesting. I know there’s not much going on football-wise, but you must be able to come up with something a bit more juicy than that. I mean, that Wnger fella has said on numerous occassions he’s just not interested in the French National job. Oh and as for the bit about Henry would leave as well….come on!
Sort it out mate.

That doesn’t mean the French FA won’t try and tempt him, they’d be idiots not too.

What a non-story….
What if the French FA do “try their luck”?
He’s said that he’s not interested in International Management, and said that after retirement he wants to coach kids in Africa…
..so the chain of “what-ifs” are pointless.
Load of rubbish.
