They said it in 2005 as well, but 2006 really looks like being freddy
Adu's year in MLS. He was 14 when he started the 2004 season, 15 in 2005. Too young to play professional soccer. While the technical standard of MLS can't compare with European leagues it's still very fast, very physical. The coaching staff at D.C United quite rightly were not keen for Adu to play every game.
Now Adu has grow a bit, physically and mentally. The 16 year old seems to have gained coach Peter Nowak's trust, reflected by him playing 90 minutes in midfield last weekend, D.C. United's season opener against Red Bull New York which finished 2-2.
Freddy won't make the USA's World Cup roster, but he will finally justify the hype in MLS.
