Sven's back to his old ways. The rest of the world might think Rooney's injury is a perfect opportunity to embrace the attacking forces of England's midfield (Gerrard's FA Cup final performance should be sealed in a bag and marked 'Exhibit A') but Sven thinks otherwise
With one phrase he dashed all our dreams of Walcott, Lennon, Downing or even a nice sensible holding midfielder
. "What I would do today, if I had to pick a team with no Rooney, is to bring in Peter Crouch," said Eriksson "He is the obvious replacement and I think he is ready to step in. That way we stay in our 4-4-2 formation and still keep our four best midfielders."
Well, it was fun while it lasted. Sigh.
