Serie A Director Gets Mafia Style Warning
Filed in archive Oddballs on December 31, 2006
Palermo's sporting director Rino Foschi received a severed goat's head in the post on Christmas Eve after the Sicilian side's poor run of form. They're still in 3rd place in Serie A, which really isn't that bad, but seems someone somewhere isn't too happy.
"My first thought was that it was a joke, but it gave my wife a terrible fright. She fainted when she opened the box," Foschi said, only in Italian.
The stupidest thing about this threat is that it doesn't help Palermo at all. If you're a fan who's disappointed with results, how is sending your team's sporting director a severed animal head going to improve results?
