Save Us From Souey!

Probably the most depressing (football related) news I've read in the last few days was the story that not-nice man Graeme Souness is trying to buy Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Not only is Souness a bit of a meany pants, prone to driving good players out of clubs (eg Craig Bellamy out of Newcastle) and wasting good money (eg bringing Julian Dicks into Liverpool). It's also unfairly teasing Wolves fans with money when we'd just gotten used to not having it.

This season has been the same as most other seasons results wise, in and out of the play off zone and all that. The big difference is that without cash to spend all the youngsters (Mark Davies, Lewis Gobern and others) have been given a chance and are doing just fine (though Davies has been injured). In every possible ways it's more exciting to see a bunch of kids playing their hearts out than it is to see former stars on their last legs at Molineux. This means you Darren Anderton.

Souness is officially just fronting a consortium and their 20 million pound bid, and technically Mick McCarthy's job is safe. But it's inevitable that once results go a bit wrong the pressure will mount for Souness to step in. And he will.
