Rooney's Boyhood Idol Was... Anders Limpar!

Not many players surpass their boyhood heroes with such ease, but Wayne Rooney set the bar pretty low by idolising Anders Limpar.
The former Arsenal and Everton winger was decent on his day, and had more than a few tricks down his socks (footy equivalent to up your sleeves, since you ask) but you'd expect a talent like Roonaldo would have been aiming for somewhere more like Maradonaville.
"I liked him because he used to shoot and dribble more than Duncan Ferguson," explains Rooney, though I'm pretty sure every player like to dribble more than Big Dunc.
Limpar had his best days at Arsenal, but went on to be the most technically gifted player in a not particularly gifted Everton team, and struggled to turn it on on a regular basis.
Maybe Rooney's current dip in form is an homage
to Limpar's inconsistency...
