Romario To Play In U.S.

Brazilian legend Romario will trade 'futbol' for 'soccer' after joining Miami F.C. in the USL 1st Division (one tier below MLS) He will join on a six month loan from his Brazilian club Vasco de Gama.

Miami F.C. is an expansion team, so they'll be desperate to have a financially successful year. Signing Romario should guarantee decent attendances.

I'm normally the first to criticize over the hill players coming to America, and at 40 years old Romario seems a prime candidate for a Soccer-Weblog tongue lashing (bet he's scared). However, the little legend scored 22 goals for Vasco in the 2005 season suggesting he still has plenty to give.

He also has something to chase. With 959 career goals (according to this) he needs 41 more to reach the 1,000 mark.
