After six years at Tottenham, Robbie Keane has completed his transfer to Liverpool, the club he supported as a youngster. It is a great move for Keane who will play Champions League football and should be a great move for Liverpool who have bought an experienced and proven striker.

The fee of nineteen million pounds is high but in the light of other recent moves, would seem to be about right. Tottenham are claiming to be very unhappy about losing Keane and whilst they will miss him, Ramos will enjoy spending the money.

It will be interesting to see how Robbie Keane fits in to Rafa Benitez's plans at Liverpool. When they were at their most successful last season, he played Steve Gerrard in a role off Fernando Torres. They were joined by two wide men and two defensive midfield players.

Assuming that Torres has no fears about his place in the side and that Liverpool haven't spent nineteen million pounds on a player to play in the reserves, we can assume that Keane and Torres would be the first choice forward line. So where does that leave Steve Gerrard?

It will be interesting to see how Liverpool line-up when at full strength. Of course, if Rafa adopts his rotation policy, it may be Christmas before we can work out what he thinks his full strength side is!
