Sheffield United and Rep. of Ireland keeper Paddy kenny not only had his eyebrow bitten off in a brawl this season, he's just discovered the most grueling way for a footballer to enjoy their summer. Marathons. Three of them. On three consecutive days. Mental.
While fancy-dans like Ronaldinho and Kaka are taking the summer off because they're tired, Kenny is punishing himself Forest Gump style. I mean this in the nicest possible way, but he's not in great shape to start with. Great keeper, but carrying a little extra padding. So 78 miles in 3 days must have been absolutely punishing.
He must be a good guy, because he did it to raise money for local Sheffield hospices. Here's a great quote from Soccer-Weblog's new favourite player:
"It's the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. Far harder than pre-season training. I have blisters on blisters but I did it and if I was asked to do it again I would, especially after all these people turned up to welcome us home."
