Neville's Run
Filed in archive England by daryl on August 15, 2006

The Brat pack made a good point about Gary Neville recently. After Steve McLaren did his Logan's Run style thinning of the herd, Neville is the only over 30 left in the England squad.
Why did he survive? Was it because he's freakishly gifted? Because he keeps a hilarious (made up) diary? Because McLaren loves that fluffy excuse for a moustache? Nope, nope and nope. It's because there are no viable alternatives. Were there a right back equivalent of Aaron Lennon then Neville would probably be joining his mate Beckham in front of the TV for future England games.
The ever-optimistic Bratwurst team have produced a list of 10 Potential Replacements for the Neviller, but they're all either
a) more comfortable playing elsewhere (Jamie Carragher, Owen Hargreaves)
b) very, very young (Billy Jones, Micah Richards) or
c) Luke Young (Luke Young)
The only potential bright spot is Glen Johnson, so let's all hope he sorts himself out while on loan at Portsmouth this season and recaptures that form he had in a West Ham shirt way back in 2003.
