Mourinho for England!
Filed in archive England by daryl on October 18, 2007

Whatever happens next month, England fans can look forward to November. Either England will qualify for Euro 2008 by beating Croatia (and Israel helping us out by holding Russia to a draw) or England fail to make Euro 2008 and Steve McClaren gets the sack.
Obviously I'm pulling for the former because there's nothing worse than missing out on a major tournament. But if the worst happens, and England have to sack Steve Mac (and they really HAVE to if we fail to make it) then at least we get the excitement of a new manager.
McClaren's appointment robbed us of that last time round. Not just because there was no suspense and no big name for us to marvel at, but because his regime has been sort of similar to Sven's.
So even if all goes wrong in November, there's still plenty to look forward to. Here's an early list of managers who could make watching England (on and off the pitch) exciting again: Jose Mourinho, Guus Hiddink, Felipe Scolari (aka First Choice Phil,) Arsene Wenger
, maybe even Steve Coppell or Martin O'Neill.
The Mourinho for England bandwagon has already start rolling and I want to get on, if only because the press conferences would suddenly become twice as interesting.
