Lionel Messi has suffered a fresh injury, complaining of pains in his left foot. The 18 year old Barcelona star sat out Argentina's opening match against ivory Coast as he was still recovering form a sore right hamstring, but was expected to play some part in Friday's game against Serbia & Montenegro.

That looks unlikely now, and it's bad news for those of us waiting to see Messi light up this World Cup. Still, there's always the equally talented Juan Riquelme, Javier Saviola, Carlose Tevez and Pablo Aimar to entertain us while Messi can't.
