Mark Bosnich: McClaren and Beckham Peronality Clash
Filed in archive England by daryl on October 13, 2006
Mark Bosnich was listening to Talksport callers babble on about Beckham, McClaren and England yesterday, and decided to call in with his own observations.
The Aussie keeper was at Man Utd when Becks was at his zenith and McClaren was second in command, and claims that the two never saw eye to eye. Here's what he told Talksport:
""From my days at Manchester United I know there is a personality clash between Steve McClaren and David Beckham and it's more to do with Steve McClaren. At the end of the day, he is the England manager and he has got to do the best for England."
"He should put that aside, and (Beckham) should have been involved. Six months ago he was captain of a team that was tipped to lift the World Cup and now he is not even getting in the side."
"Alex Ferguson always said that you don't have to like all your players that you've got under you. There is a midfield crisis and he is still one of the best midfielders in the world and he is not even mentioned about getting picked, and that's not right."
