Luton Town appeal fails. Where is the common sense?

Luton Town's appeal to the FA to have their ten point penalty removed has failed. This means that the club still faces a thirty point deficit before a ball is kicked in anger in the forthcoming season.

Luton have been relegated two seasons in a row and find themselves in League Two with little realistic chance of avoiding the drop into the Conference. It could be a massive battle just to survive as a club, let alone prosper on the field.

The fact is that the people responsible for the wrong-doing that has led to the punishment are no longer with the club. They have been dealt with on a personal level and to punish the club so heavily defies all common sense and logic.

The people who now suffer are the new owners, the staff and players and more importantly, the fans. They are all being heavily punished for something that had nothing to do with them.

I would love to think that the Football League would reconsider their twenty point penalty but I'm not going to hold my breath.

The situation is ridiculous and we can only hope that common sense will prevail in the end.
