You have to begin to question the ambition Liverpool are displaying so far during this close season. Their main target seems to be Gareth Barry, an excellent player, but one to improve them sufficiently to win the Premier League?
It has now been announced that they are hoping to complete the signing of Udinese full-back Andrea Dossena next week. Dossena has just one cap for Italy and again, is not the star player that the Liverpool fans may have been expecting to arrive.
Dossena will be seen as a replacement for John Arne Riise who signed for Roma earlier this month. Chief Executive Rick Parry took the opportunity to praise the contribution of the Norwegian defender over the last seven years.
"He worked hard and never gave us a minute's trouble. The fans will remember that powerful shot of his that brought them to their feet on many occasions. We had a good chat about his time here and he wants to thank the fans for the support he was given down the years. He secured Champions League and FA Cup success at Anfield and also helped us win the Worthington Cup and two European Super Cups."
The fact that Dossena will become manager Rafael Benitez's second signing of the summer following the arrival of Swiss full-back Phillip Degen on a free transfer, doesn't seem to send the message that Liverpool are preparing to launch a real challenge to the supremacy established by Chelsea and Manchester United.
Of course, there could be some big names to come. The Anfield faithful will be hoping so.

And here we go the transfer window hasn't opened and already our ambition is questiones. Do you know who we ae about to sign because I don't. Dossena could be good, Barry is not particuarly exciting but we coud sign a big name I don't now and neither do you.

Oh look its another graduate of the school of utter idiots who think they're good journalists - You know who LFC are signing do you? No, You've heard the public announcements by Rafa about who we want to sign? Of course not as there were none so shut it until there are prat - fact is NO club has gone and made a huge signing YET bar Chelscum (who probably paid you to write this piece of dishwater masquerading as an 'article') so why question LFC?
Ah yes, I know the famous so called "established supremacy" what so established that neither has yet equalled never mind overtaken LFC as the countries MOST SUCCESSFUL club yet? - nope and that in a nutshell is why you wrote this piece of trash - jealousy;
You see our position, the fact that we scored MORE GOALS than anyone last season in all competitons (and were the only team with hat-tricks in all of them), the fact that we lost LESS GAMES than United the champions and you probably worry for your pet sides (is it chelskov or Manure?) so called supremacy don't you? So you think 'I know, I'll write an article saying "you have to question LFC's ambition before anyones done any business yet, that'll learn the scouse scum and keep their fans from daring to think they can overtake us - how dare they?" don't you?
Thing is that crap is so common in tabloid rags (especially the S*n and the star and Mirror) that we see straight through it now and you must have been a real idiot to go ahead with it - how can you question ANY club not buying a star when all said stars are at Euro's? you can't can you? but you try to and in typical tabloid crap fashion you IGNORE the other side and only peddle the s**t that you think is right and what anti LFC fans want to hear and even more stupidly, you actually sound like you believe it, idiot - Wait a week or 2 then we'll see about ambition - in the meantime, go back to the drawing board, no make that back to school and come back in a decade when you're all grown up and can maybe write something believable and of more use than the average piece of toilet paper!! Have to Question LFC's ambition indeed, prat.
