With every Englishman
and his dog saying basically the same thing about Scolari this week (good manager but we'd prefer an Englishman was the general consensus) Gary Lineker decided to go one better with this nonsense:
"He's got great credentials by winning the World Cup, but he did it with Brazil. My granny could probably have managed Brazil to World Cup success. He clearly knows his stuff but it's the difference culturally and the football between Brazil and England that worries me. I think it will take him three or four years just to work out the crazy game we play in this country."
Could Lineker's granny really have won the World Cup with Brazil? If only the Brazilians had known, they could have used her in 1982, 1986, 1990 and 1998. Lineker's right that there are footballing differences between the two nations, but would it really be so bad if England played a bit more like Brazil? And the idea that it would take Scolari three or four years to work out the English game is ludicrous. He seemed to have our game pretty well worked out when he knocked us out of the 2002 World Cup and 2004 Euros. Stick to selling crisps Gary.
