Transfer rumours
by Graham Fisher on July 1, 2008

Amongst the many rumours circulating at the moment, this one caught my more than most. Liverpool have reportedly made a move to sign Tottenham striker Robbie Keane. Spurs' boss Juande Ramos is an admirer of Liverpool forward Peter Crouch and a swap starts to look a distinct possibility.
It is thought that Liverpool may be willing to offer Crouch plus cash to sign Keane, but a valuation of around £20million may be too much for the Anfield club.
Keane is under contract with Spurs until 2012, having signed a new five-year contract in May 2007 but there have been rumours about him wanting to leave. Crouch is known to be surplus to requirements at Liverpool and Benitez may see Keane as a suitable partner for Fernando Torres.
The deal would be good for both players as Crouch would probably get regular first team football and have a chance to stake a claim for his England place and Keane would get Champions League football and the chance to play for the club he supported as a youngster.
So in media world the whole move makes a great deal of sense. The trouble is, we don't know whether it is likely to happen or not.
All we need to do now is wait to see whether there is any truth whatsoever in the rumour!

Keane would be very useful player for Rafa Benitez. His experience will certainly help!
