Joey Barton was acquitted of causing criminal damage to a taxi last week by Magistrates in Liverpool. Following his finding of 'not guilty' Barton was returned to his Prison cell to continue serving his sentence for the vicious assault he committed in December last year.
Barton was found not guilty because he had been with his cousin when the glass divide between the driver and the customers was smashed and the radio was ripped out. The driver had called for emergency help from other taxi drivers and they had come along, had an altercation whereby one of them produced a rounders bat, and Barton and his cousin ran away. The forensic evidence showed that the glass had been smashed by the cousin so he was convicted and Barton wasn't.
I feel sorry for Barton. Kevin Keegan has said that he is a reformed character and is now well in control of his drinking and temper. He was really unlucky here to be with a relative who was being so aggressive whilst he sat there quietly behaving himself. If you believe that you believe anything.
I've been very drunk in my life and I have got in taxi's. Funnily enough, I've never been with someone who has smashed the glass, ripped out the radio or been threatened with a baseball bat by other taxi drivers. I've never even had to run away!
He may have been found not guilty but don't be fooled into thinking he wasn't involved. He is bad news and bad things happen to him, around him and because of him. His past record is too bad for him to continue as a top class footballer.
I truly hope that Barton never again plays Premier League football. When we see people calling for Wayne Rooney to be banned because he swore at a referee or Ashley Cole to be banned for turning his back on a referee and disrespecting him, the image that Barton portrays on and off the pitch is something that Football doesn't need and must do without.
He has had too many chances and let too many people down. Enough is enough. No more Premier League for this disturbed individual.

What about the likes of Lee Hughes? No mention there is there? When Barton has served his time he is entitled to earn a living wherever he see's fit with whoever employs him. So if you work in an office and then you get a 6 month sentence, does that mean you can never work in another office again when you've taken your punishment? Of course not you fool. Think before you write such drivel.

Wonder what your thoughts are on Eric Cantona who attacked someone on live television. Just like last post I totally agree with him. I bet you were one who would say what a great ambassador cantona was. Bandwagon jumping IDIOT!!!!

Even the attention grabbing headline is incorrect. The sentiment is totally wrong (I don't like Barton either) but that's nothing to do with wheter or not he should serve his punishment and play football again. I agree with all the previous posts (even though they are somewhat offensive).

Joey Barton should never play again. What he did was disgraceful and cowardly. In court he should of had the book thrown at him and sent down for longer.
