Fergie to manage Great Britain?

Sebastian Coe has said he has spoken to Sir Alex Ferguson about him managing a Great Britain football team at the London Olympics in 2012. The issue of Great Britain team entering the tournament is already shrouded in controversy as the FAs of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have said they don't want it to happen.
Lord Coe told the BBC, "I would love to have him there because he is a phenomenal coach and a great man manager. Who else would you want to have that mentoring role with under 23 players for a build-up to the games? We have had a few conversations, but I stress that it is for the British Olympic Association and the Football Association
to make that judgement and I leave it with them." President of FIFA, Sepp Blatter, has said it would be better for GB to enter a team featuring players from just England to avoid any problems. More common sense from the leader of our game...not!
But as it is the British Olympic Association who select all the teams for the Olympic Games, they have decided to include a GB football team despite the opposition and controversy.
Sir Alex has said that he will retire inside three years so that he doesn't manage after he reaches the age of seventy. That would take him to 2011 and taking charge of the Olympic team could be a suitable swan song for the manager who in his time at Manchester United has won ten Premier League titles, five FA Cups, two League Cups, two Champions League titles, the European Cup Winners' Cup and the European Super Cup.
As the situation is already controversial I would suggest that the appointment of the quiet, shy and retiring Ferguson would be ideal to steady the ship!
What do you think?
