The FA Cup Replays are happening this week, and they kick off tonight with games including Birmingham vs Nottingham Forest and Derby vs Millwall. Tomorrow, Newcastle play Plymouth after the 0-0 draw on the south coast and Liverpool invite Reading to Anfield after drawing 1-1 away.
The weather has took its toll on all competitions, and its just been revealed that after playing in Stoke at the weekend Liverpool must play the postponed match from Saturday against Spurs. It's an absolute must-win game next Wednesday, after Liverpool somehow took all 3 points home from Birmingham after a last minute winner from Fernando Torres last week they find themselves able to close the gap to two points behind main rivals for fourth place Tottenham Hotspur.
Midweek Premier League games are unpredictable and are often less than riveting affairs, but with Liverpool's last emphatic win coming against Wigan a week before Christmas on a Wednesday night kick-off, this could go either way.
The Carling Cup was also rescheduled in a desperate attempt to ensure full attendances for a faltering tournament. Blackburn play Villa this Thursday while Man City play Man Utd next Tuesday, and the mind-numblingly pointless replays are to be held on Wednesday 20th and 27th, ensuring that Utd have two days extra to rest for their home game than Villa.
