US Soccer
by daryl on November 6, 2006
There's a rumour doing the rounds that Jurgen Klinsmann has turned down the USA job because US Soccer couldn't meet his salary demands.
Klinsmann was white hot favourite for the job, but there's a story in German rag Bild claiming that he wanted $2.5 million and they only offered $1.8 million.
More likely, Bild are jumping the gun (again, they reported he'd definitely accepted the job a couple of months ago) and that Klinsmann has rejected the offer of $1.8 million and is waiting for US Soccer to make an improved offer, which will require Sunil Gulati getting approval from the board of directors.
And what sort of backwards bizarro world are we living in when blogs have to tone down the news that actual newspapers publish anyway?

I think Bild just run stories to keep the sakes up.
