Blackburn Rovers chairman john williams has confirmed that they are negotiating with Tottenham about the possible transfer of David Bentley, but says that they have not yet accepted a bid for the England wide man.
Twenty-three year old Bentley has made his desire to move elsewhere to further his career very clear. It is only a year since he committed his future to Blackburn but he has had a change of heart.
He had said that to strengthen his international claims he would like to move to a club playing in the Champions League. Unfortunately for him, it seems that no such club has shown any interest in signing him.
Blackburn have allegedly already rejected a previous bid from Tottenham as well as a bid from Aston Villa. It is reported that for Tottenham to have any chance of launching a successful raid for Bentley they will ned to come up with around £17million.
That may not be too difficult for the London club who are £19 million richer following the sale of Robbie Keane to Liverpool.
