Champions League
by Stephen Lunn on December 19, 2009
The draw has been made for the Champions League and Europa League last-16 stages, and in the questionable style akin only to Uefa we could have predicted the biggest fixtures. Jose Mourinho makes a return to Stamford Bridge when Inter Milan face Chelsea, one of Bordeaux and Olympiakos will be given safe passage to the quarter final, and David Beckham has his wish with a return to Old Trafford when AC Milan, who he returns to on loan in January, face Manchester United.

In the Europa League last-32, which already looks set to be a more interesting competition than was seen in the last five years of the Uefa Cup, Juventus face Ajax in a mouth-watering fixture (with Fulham facing the prospect of meeting the winner in the last-16 if they get past Cup-holders Shakhtar Donetsk). Liverpool will take on Unirea Urziceni while Atletico Madrid face Galatasaray.
