US Soccer have announced that Bruce Arena's contract as US National team manager will not be renewed.
After a dreadful World Cup it was unlikely Arena would be asked to stay on, but his achievements with the team over an eight year period (highlighted by a 2002 World Cup quarterfinal appearance) mean he's been spared the indignity of being fired.
Arena's contract runs until the end of the calendar year, meaning US Soccer have a leisurely 5 and a half months to name his successor, though we all know who they want.
