ESPN have spoken to Bruce Arena about him commentating for the 2010 World Cup. His outspoken approach to press conferences seems to have caught their attention.
"I asked him if it was something he would ever consider, because he always had opinions - and he definitely would give me opinions on our commentators," says Tim Scanlan, the man in charge of soccer at ESPN. "I said, 'Let me put you in the seat. Would you consider doing it?' He said, 'Yeah, I would be interested at some point. I would not say no.'"
So, are ESPN getting wise? Probably not, Scanlan also suggested that Dave O'Brien could return for the 2010 World Cup.
