By "mutual consent", the six-year manager has agreed a quick and easy divorce from the club as the board continue to follow the whims of co-owners Gillet and Hicks. Despite assurances from Broughton that the manager would not see his contract terminated before new owners were found, Champions League and FA Cup winning Benitez' era at LFC comes to an end.
