After making his debut against Canada (all 9 minutes of it) Freddy Adu has been released from the USA training Camp
by Bruce Arena. He'll join up with his club D.C. United for pre-season training. No official word on the why and why nots yet but it seems that Arena is just thinning the herd. It's a bit like Survivor: Home Depot Center out there as 30 players started the camp, and 26 remain.
Adu must have been hoping to add to his precious 9 minutes of international football, but he was left out of the squad altogether for the next game against Norway, and will now play no part in the games against Japan and Guatemala. It also ends any realistic chance of Adu making Arena's World Cup squad.
Arena had already said Freddy was "a long shot" for the World Cup, but you have to feel for the 16 year old as being cut from the training camp won't do much for his confidence.
